It's a masterstroke of self-expression. However dark some of the statements may be in many of these songs, I love to hear Erica find new ways to tell the story of living in this world of trial and stupid asses -and decent folks. I enjoy the reality, but I find when I travel about, I thrill to the sound of optimism that "When We Were Young" exudes. I picture the dance floor at a Columbian Exposition, as we all pat ourselves on the back 'cause we are so exceptional - even if it ain't exactly true.
