about

BETWEEN BREATHS - was written and recorded in the 29 days of February for the RPM Challenge.

The songs were created with stream-of-consciousness and improvisational one-take recordings then mutated in the WIREFOREST mind-grapes of composer/band leader Walter Alice Sickert.

19 Years of RPM and Counting

A note from Edrie:

The inception of the RPM Challenge marked the beginning of an artistic journey that has spanned 19 years, shaping our creative direction along the way.

It was during the very first RPM Challenge that Walter and I crossed paths. Since then, February has emerged as a pivotal month for us, a period of both reflection and transformation. This month holds special significance, not only because it’s when our daughter Wednesday, who is now 9, was born, but also because it has been a time of significant life events for us. From premiering plays to moving homes, experiencing job losses and gains, embarking on tours, celebrating weddings, braving heavy snowfalls, and coping with loss, February has been eventful. Despite the myriad of experiences, we have consistently released an album each February, every year of the challenge.

Regardless of what February brings, we have always found time to create music.

In 2023, Walter momentarily stepped away from “BUNKER BUDS,” their daily dystopian talk show that strives to bring light and joy into the often somber solitude of quarantine. This hiatus will end this year as they return to inspire thousands more through episodes that emphasize the beauty and camaraderie found in artistic fellowship.

“Let Yourself Love Yourself.”

Our 19th RPM album, “BETWEEN BREATHS,” is a tribute to the last 19 years of RPM challenges. It honors the individuals, locales, and experiences that have shaped our identity to this day.

We extend our deepest gratitude to RPM for providing us with the opportunity to create and for reminding us that, regardless of the hurdles the world may place in our path, our commitment to music remains unwavering.
